Christine K. Vogel
DVM, Practice Owner/Veterinarian
We all have a driving force behind the why, the how and the what we do. Here is my “Why” as practice owner and Veterinarian of Animal Health Care Veterinary Hospital:
I graduated Iowa State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2000 with a dream to extend the time and bond of people and their pets. Now, with over 2 decades of companion animal veterinary experience under my belt, I feel I have a good understanding of myself, my goals, and our profession. My “why” all stem from my experiences from being a:
- Farm girl nursing to health all of the sick critters that came my way
- Veterinary Student
- Associate veterinarian (non-owning entity)
- Traveling Relief veterinarian (contracted employee)
- Working in Large 8+ Veterinarian Practices
- Working in Small 1-2 Veterinarian Practices
- Living/Practicing in rural and urban areas
- Mother/Working Mom
- Practice Owner
During my 20+ years, I have witnessed the joy, beauty, integrity, and advancements in medicine. I have also witnessed unprecedented depression, work-life imbalance, financial hardships, compassion fatigue, suicide, and burn out from this industry. As one practice owner, I cannot control the fate or direction of the veterinary industry, but I can control my little “bubble” of how I practice and those with whom I surround myself. We cannot fix all that is wrong with the world, however, can we make it just a little bit better one vet visit at a time?
Animal Health Care Veterinary Hospital is the culmination of taking all my experiences by always being a work in progress attempting to build a practice where all employees, clients and patients are seen of value and witness our passion for what we do. We will also protect this passion by making my staff feel valued, safe from injury, living wages, and constantly encouraged to succeed. However, the trade is we must also have time for our own family, friends, hobbies, and rest. “You can’t pour from an empty cup.”
Dr. Beth Wohlert is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who joined the team at Animal Health Care in 2012. She grew up on a small dairy farm in NE Iowa. With her siblings she enjoyed a menagerie of pets both indoor and outdoor. Her best friend growing up was a black Cockapoo named Petey, who enjoyed chasing skunks, along with the baths and attention this behavior gained. This piqued her interest in caring for animals of all sizes. After high school she obtained her Bachelor degree in Biology in 2005 at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. She then pursued her DVM at Iowa State University where she graduated in 2009.
Her favorite part of this job is getting to know the pets, and the clients who have become part of the AHCVH family. She greatly enjoys the energy, humor of the staff, and the commitment to good quality medicine, surgery, and preventative care.
She currently lives in Caledonia, MN where she farms with her husband, Tyler and their soon to be 1 year old son Jonah. She is very excited to get the chance to meet you!
Lead Technician and Office Manager
Jennifer is a Certified Veterinary Technician who graduated from Minnesota School of Business in 2010. She has been with Animal Health Care since June of 2011.
She enjoys working with animals, and making a direct impact on their lives. She loves being able to help owners maintain the health of their pets, and to help enrich their lives. Her favorite part about working at AHCVH is being able to start relationships with pets and their owners while helping them build a foundation of health and well-being.
Jen’s pets include, Chipmunk a 10-year-old female domestic shorthair that she adopted while going to school to become a technician. Chipmunk loves to hug people and snuggle with her sister Daisy. Lola a 6-year-old female chihuahua/pug mix. She loves people, going for walks and playing fetch. Daisy a 5-year-old chihuahua. Daisy is shy but sweet when she gets to know you. She gives the best kisses. Her favorite pastime is snuggling with her cat sister and sleeping under warm blankets.
Hello my name is Danyelle Anderson. I am the Supervisor Veterinary Technician. I graduated through the RCTC veterinary technician program in 2016 and started working here the same year. I love this field because of all the variety of things we do and every day is different. I do everything from anesthesia, dental cleanings, vaccines, treatments, client education, ect. which can make each day exciting. But of course the puppy and kitty snuggles are great too!
I am the big kid around here! I love video games, reading manga, and watching anime. I am also a big fan of movies. My favorite types are horror (especially zombies), action, and animated/cartoon movies. I am more of the home body type, but I do love amusement parks and swimming when we actually have good weather.
I have had a variety of house pets throughout my life. Mostly dogs and a couple cats. I have had hamsters, rats, and lizards as well. I miss my bearded dragon George Sunshine. Currently I have two troublemaking cats: Olive and Darbi. Olive came to me through the Hiawatha Humane Society. She is my graceful, beautiful, independent, talkative kitty. Darbi came to the clinic after being attached by a dog. The wonderful people that brought him in could not keep him and I just fell in love. To him I am mom. He gets so excited when I get home. He suckles on fluffy blankets while kneading and purring loudly all the time. Such a happy little troublemaker. He has an injured leg and it does cause him to be quite clumsy, but that does not stop him from getting into everything. He is such a character and I cant imagine life without him.
Melissa is a Texas girl who moved to Minnesota in the fall of 2018 to experience her very first winter! She came to our practice in November 2018. She is a military spouse and has been working at a technician since 2013. Her loves include a husband, a daughter, 2 boxers, a cat, a Yorkshire terrier, two Bantam Silky chickens, two bearded dragons and a tortoise. She loves all kinds of animals not limited to exotics! In her free time, she enjoys traveling, crafting and enjoying anything outside.
