You don’t have to wait until an advertisement appears. Our staffing needs change throughout the year, and sometimes we meet someone who makes us rethink what the team could look like.
Associate Veterinarian
INDEPENDENT SMALL ANIMAL PRACTICE | ROCHESTER MINNESOTA
We are an independent hospital looking for an experienced veterinarian who is comfortable managing a clinical day and values the freedom to practice thoughtful medicine. We have shared standards and a collaborative team, while giving our doctors room to use their judgment.
Schedule Approximately 2–4 clinical days per week, depending on the opening. Our three-day model averages roughly 27–32 hours weekly. The team huddle begins around 7:20 AM.
Scheduled through 5:30 PM Our last appointment generally begins at 4:30 PM. Doctors are scheduled through 5:30 PM to complete medical records, client callbacks, discharge plans, case handoffs, and other end-of-day work. Please plan to stay through the end of your scheduled shift.
Compensation example For an experienced associate working three days weekly, a current reference point is a $135,000 guaranteed annual base plus 18% production compensation after the base requirement is met. An individual offer depends on schedule, clinical experience, independent case management, and the mentorship needed.
Coverage No regular weekends, overnight shifts, or on-call.
The clinical day and team
- Appointments are generally 30 minutes for wellness and rechecks and 45 minutes for sick or new patients. Expect about 12–14 appointments and 1–3 day admissions on a clinical day. We work hard and organize the schedule so the team can finish its work and go home at the end of the day.
- A doctor typically has three to four on-site support staff, with one to two remote CSRs helping with calls and client communication. Our closed-lobby workflow, Otto messaging, and CoVet AI scribe support the flow of care.
- Usually one veterinarian is on the floor at a time. The medical director generally works in the background and is available for consultation, while the associate independently directs the cases and team in front of them.
Clinical work and resources
- Bring working skills in internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery. These are expected parts of the position, along with sound decisions, clear client communication, and timely records.
- Resources include ultrasound and echocardiography, a vessel sealer, TonoVet, Class IV therapeutic laser, blood pressure equipment, capnography, and in-house urgent blood testing. Cardiology and radiology telemedicine consultations are available for specialist input.
- We follow shared medical standards and general protocols while respecting clinical judgment. We use low-stress handling and collaborate closely with assistants and licensed technicians.
Benefits
- A qualifying three-day package has included nine PTO days, two paid continuing-education days, up to $3,000 for continuing education, a $250 attire allowance, professional dues and licenses, professional liability coverage, and a SIMPLE IRA with a 3% employer match.
- Specific compensation and benefits are confirmed in the written offer.

Licensed Veterinary Technician
CREDENTIALED CLINICAL ROLE | ROCHESTER MINNESOTA
Our licensed veterinary technicians connect the veterinarian’s plan with the patient’s care and the client’s understanding. With generally one veterinarian on the floor, the LVT’s clinical judgment, clear communication, and reliable follow-through are central to a smooth day.
Potential schedule Approximately 2–5 days per week, depending on the opening. Availability for the 7:20 AM huddle and through approximately 5:30 PM when scheduled is important.
Pay $24–$30 per hour for a Minnesota LVT, based on experience and demonstrated skills. A newer graduate may need more mentorship; a technician skilled across surgery, dentistry, and exam-room case flow with little mentorship may qualify near the top of the range.
Coverage No regular weekends, overnight shifts, or on-call.
A clinical day built for care
- Most wellness and recheck visits are 30 minutes and sick or new-patient visits are 45 minutes; some boosters and brief rechecks are 15 minutes. We focus on quality care and long-term client relationships rather than moving cases through every 10–15 minutes.
- You will usually have at least two other on-site support teammates. In-house blood testing and our AI scribe help with case flow and reduce time spent on documentation.
Clinical leadership and client communication
- Provide skilled nursing, assessment, venipuncture, IV catheters, laboratory work, radiography, anesthesia monitoring, hospitalized care, and strong surgery and dentistry support within applicable protocols.
- Keep exam rooms moving. Explain the veterinarian’s recommended testing and treatment options to clients, answer questions within the care plan, and bring medical decisions or new concerns back to the doctor.
- Coordinate day admissions and discharges, carry out the veterinarian’s recommendations accurately, document care, and report patient changes promptly. Doctors need to trust that the plan is completed and communicated.
- Help assistants develop their skills and work with the CSR team so clients receive consistent information throughout the visit.
Growth and benefits
- Minnesota LVT licensure is required for this role. Growth can follow your interests in anesthesia, dentistry, diagnostics, team training, client education, or other services you can help bring to the practice. Interest in exotics is welcome and may create opportunities to care for additional species.
- Depending on hours and eligibility, benefits may include a SIMPLE IRA with a 3% employer match, paid time off, employee veterinary care and product discounts, an Employee Assistance Program, AFLAC options, continuing education, and attire support. Health insurance reimbursement may be available for qualifying full-time positions.

Veterinary Assistant
NONLICENSED CLINICAL SUPPORT ROLE | ROCHESTER MINNESOTA
Veterinary assistants support the veterinarians, licensed technicians, and client-service team wherever patient and hospital flow need help. One day may include exam rooms and lab work; another may include dentistry preparation, surgery support, and client pickups. This role suits someone who enjoys variety and wants to grow through training.
Potential schedule Approximately 2–5 days per week, depending on the opening. Regular availability during our 7:20 AM team huddle through the 5:30 PM end of the staff day is valuable; individual shifts vary.
Pay $21–$26+ per hour, based on training, demonstrated skills, experience, independence, and responsibilities.
Coverage No regular weekends, overnight shifts, or on-call.
A varied role across the hospital
- Handle dogs and cats with low-stress methods; help with histories, vital signs, exams, treatments, day admissions, and patient transitions within your training and supervision.
- Prepare supplies, assist with samples and laboratory testing, and support imaging, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia recovery, and hospitalized care as trained and permitted. Surgery and dentistry duties grow with supervised training and demonstrated competence.
- Prepare and clean exam rooms, sterilize instruments, restock supplies, and keep treatment areas ready for the next patient.
- Help the CSR team when needed with rooming, pickups, client communication, and appropriate front-desk tasks after training. Coordinate with veterinarians and licensed technicians so patients and appointments keep moving.
- Document care accurately, keep medical records current, and promptly communicate changes or concerns to the supervising clinical team.
What helps you succeed
- Some previous experience and comfort handling animals, especially dogs and cats, is important. You should be able to approach patients safely and compassionately.
- You notice details, are trustworthy with patients and client information, complete medical records carefully, and follow through even when the day changes direction.
- You communicate well, accept feedback, ask before a task exceeds your training, and enjoy learning several kinds of work rather than repeating the same tasks every day.
Growth and benefits
- We train progressively. As skills and confidence grow, you can take on more clinical and client-care responsibilities within the role. Veterinary Assistant is separate from the Minnesota Licensed Veterinary Technician role.

Client Service Representative
ON-SITE CLIENT CARE COORDINATOR | ROCHESTER MINNESOTA
Our on-site CSR is often the first person a client sees and the last person they speak with before leaving. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys people, builds trust, and can take ownership of the front desk after training. Our remote CSRs share the communication load so this person can stay engaged with clients and keep visits moving.
Current opening Part time, Monday through Friday, approximately 12:30–5:30 PM and 23–25 hours per week, with occasional morning or full-day coverage. The role may grow to full time as staffing needs change in spring or summer 2027; other openings may also vary between part time and full time.
Pay $22–$26+ per hour, depending on customer-service experience, veterinary knowledge, independence, and responsibilities.
Location In person at our Rochester hospital. No regular weekends, overnight shifts, or on-call.
Own the on-site client experience
- Welcome clients, check visits in and out, room clients when needed, and coordinate appointments, day admissions, pickups, and discharges with the medical team.
- Keep the front desk moving: notice a waiting client, an unfinished form or payment, a drive-up arrival, a message needing follow-up, or a problem in tomorrow’s schedule, and take the next appropriate step.
- Schedule visits and procedures; review estimates and policies; collect payments or deposits; keep records accurate; complete midday and end-of-day reconciliation.
Work as one team with remote CSRs
- Our current remote CSRs handle a substantial share of calls, messages, and behind-the-scenes client communication. The on-site CSR can give more attention to people in the hospital and keep appointments and cases moving.
- You will still answer phones and share timely updates with the remote CSRs. You are not expected to handle every incoming call while serving everyone standing in front of you.
Bring people skills and technology confidence
- Excellent customer relations, clear communication, empathy, professional boundaries, and follow-through are essential. Stay calm with worried or frustrated clients and become comfortable making independent decisions within hospital policies.
- Use Avimark, Otto messaging, VoIP phones, instant messaging, digital forms, and templates throughout the day. You should learn new systems readily and be comfortable troubleshooting routine technology issues.
- Veterinary experience is preferred, but strong customer-service experience from any industry is especially valuable. We can teach veterinary terminology and our clinical workflow.
Benefits
Part-time benefits may include a SIMPLE IRA with a 3% employer match, an Employee Assistance Program, AFLAC options, employee veterinary discounts, and professional development, subject to eligibility.
